![]() I would recommend downloading the Grim Colour Reaper plug-in as this lets you turn individual colours transparent, which is ideal for images with a single colour background. Topaz ReMask was developed to work on Windows XP, Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 or Windows 11 and is compatible with 32 or 64-bit systems. The most popular versions of the software are 5.0, 4.0 and 3.2. The first thing to do is add another layer to the image (black is generally best) and move this layer behind the image. Our software library provides a free download of Topaz ReMask 5.0.1. Then using the lasso tool I have slected the top part of the image which is his hair and background. Use the colour picker tool to select the images background colour (in this case it is white) and select the Grim Colour Reaper tool (it will be located in your "Effects" menu) then just adjust the Colour Tolerance slider so that the background disappears without effecting the colour/transparancy of the hair. I generally set the second slider to somewhere between 70 - 90 depending on the background colour. Just repeat this action on the left and right sides of the image, although depending on the lighting of the image you may have to do the ears, collar, neck & jaw individually. You may find that on some images there may be a slight amount of snow or colour difference around the edges of the players hair. To rectify this use the Magic Wand tool and click on the players hair (leave the tolerance at around 50%), this will lock the these pixels in place. Next select the Clone Stamp tool, you may need to increase the brush size depending on the size of the image, press CTRL to adjust the spacing between your brush and the clone brush before using it to remove snow/re-colour the edges. ![]() Next rotate the image if it needs to be straightened then select the Rectangle select tool to crop the image (hold down Shift while doing this as its keeps it square) you can reposition the rectangle if needed by selecting the Move Selection tool. ![]()
